Where is the best place to practice driving near Novato?
If you’re helping a Novato area teen get comfortable behind the wheel, the best places are usually wide parking lots, quiet residential streets, and low-speed roads with simple intersections. Here are the most popular local options around Novato that parents and our driving instructors tend to use. Please remember that the State of California requires that the first lesson be with a Driving School to validate the learner’s permit.
- College of Marin (Novato campus) – Large, mostly empty parking lot during weekends and off-class hours; plenty of room to practice basics without traffic.
- Old Hamilton Field / Hangar Ave lots – Quiet areas and business park zones with wide streets and open spaces great for early driving practice.
